Robert Donald Duffy

July 15, 1940 – March 13, 2018

Robert Donald Duffy (Don) age 77, passed away peacefully on March 13th 2018 with his loving wife Norma Lillian Duffy at his side. Son of William Duffy and Evelyn Larose, he is survived by his three siblings; Brother James Kenneth (Kenny), and sisters Barbra Smith, and Nancy Dunning. Loving father to Sean Duffy, and his wife Teresa Duffy. Grandfather to Krystal Duffy, and Katherine Duffy (Bouchard). Great Grandfather to six-year-old Andraia, and five-year-old William. He will be greatly missed. Don was an intelligent man who was a proud member of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers. Over his years he built his own home that his family shared for many years and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a great love of planes, and model building which he shared with his son. He was also an avid book worm, a reader of books on the Theory of Relativity, or Absolute Zero. But most of all he was a kind-hearted person whom was able to make anyone in his presence feel loved, and like they were the most important person in the world. Don will be missed, but his family takes solace in knowing he is no longer in pain or trapped within a mind that had started to fail him. A great man made whole once more, to watch over us and live in our hearts. Friends may call at the Innisfil Funeral Home 7910 Yonge St. (Stroud) On Sunday March 25 from 12 noon until time of service at 2:00p.m. Memorial donations to MG Society of Canada c/o Treasurer, Myasthenia Gravis Society of Canada 247 Harold Avenue Stouffville, ON L4A 1C2 http://www.mgcanada.org/pages/donate/  Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.innisfilfuneralhome.ca

Dear Norma and Sean, We were very sorry to hear of Don's passing. We always meant to keep in touch but life happens... The years have gone by so fast but the memories seem just so fresh of the home in Adjala and the time we spent together. Your family will be in our prayers. Love always..
By Janet and Mike Dunn

Sorry we did not live closer, maybe we would have visited more often. It was always a good time when we did see one another. Our suppers at The Market Place and breakfasts at that little restaurant. Such great times to remember and such a great guy your Don. You were a great part of those visits too. We will surely miss those times but we will still see you when we can. Norma it has to be a big weight off your shoulders. Be strong, remember we all love you and thinking about you during these very tough times. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Sean and Teresa as well as the children. Love. You. Ken

Norma Don was well thought of by the Hamill family in Cornwall. I remember when he was a Queen Scout and when he worked on the building of the latest paper machine in Cornwall as the chief engineer. I recently talked to Nancy and she said he wasn't well.He will be missed. Dick Hamill ,cousin of Don

Dear Norma, remembering those warm summer airshow days with you, Don, Sean, Enid and I. Our thoughts are with you at this sad time
By Alan Leathley &...

Dear Norma, I was much saddened to learn about Don but grateful his suffering is at an end. Reading about your great loss brought memories flooding back of my long association with Don, the truest friend a man could have. We first met it must have been in the 1960's when he was a young engineer in Cornwall Ontario engaged in the installation of the giant #7 fine paper machine at the Howard Smith paper mill. He represented the customer and I the supplier of instrumentation for that project. Expressing a desire to relocate in Toronto I suggested he should consider a position with my firm, Fischer and Porter where we subsequently worked as colleagues for many years. I recall his ambitious decision to build your future home on 10 acres in the wilds of Adjala Township and remember helping a little in that project! Later my late wife Doreen and I had the pleasure of reciprocal visits to each other's homes. Later, when I was in need of a job, it was Don who came through for me and found me an opening at Lummus where we worked together for nine years on some massive construction projects. He later used his influence to smooth my departure from that company when the ups and downs of the business cycle brought those great construction projects to and end. I echo the words so beautifully written in the obituary notice I am holding "he was a kind-hearted person…." Brian
