SHANNON, Raymond Charles - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Charles Shannon, surrounded by loved ones at Hospice Simcoe on Thursday, February 2nd, 2017. Ray was born May 25th, 1939 in Dead Creek, NB to Charles and Minnie (nee Wright) Shannon. Ray was the loving husband of Mary (nee Henderson). Cherished father of daughter Kelly Walsh. Beloved stepfather of Michael and Peter Flick. Adored Papa of Matthew (Kelly), James and Kaitlyn Walsh. Much loved big brother to Donna (Jerry), Doreen (Gary), Tom and Charles. Brother-in-law to Ann McLellan. Ray was predeceased by his parents Minnie and Charles Shannon, brothers Winston and Sterling, stepson Patrick Flick and nephew Christopher Veysey. He will be sadly missed by several nieces, nephews and their families, as well as many good friends. Ray was devoted to his entire family, a gentleman always ready to lend a helping hand. Well known for his smile and sense of humor, his undying devotion to the Montreal Canadians and his love of NASCAR. The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to all of the staff at St. Elizabeth's Palliative Care, particularly Nurse Christine who went above and beyond in her care of Ray, also to the wonderful, caring staff at Hospice Simcoe. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, February 11th, 2017 from 11:00am to 4:00pm at The Wheel, Sandy Cove Acres, 2 Weeping Willow Drive in Innisfil. Ray's wishes were to have his ashes scattered on Shannon Mountain, The family will hold another ceremony this summer in New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's or Cancer Societies would be appreciated.

Mary. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Ray was an amazing man, loved by so many people.. You and Ray was my lifeline when Winston passed. I don't think he realized how much it meant to me and my girls to have you both there. I know how rough it's going to be in the next few month for you and I know you are a strong lady with a wonderful family behind you. Take care and God Bless xo
