Detar, Mihaly (Michael) - Passed away peacefully on February 22nd 2018 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie Ontario. Michael Detar was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1938, the only son of Mihaly & Margaret Detar. Michael came to Canada in 1956 and soon became a Canadian citizen. He worked successfully for close to 30 years for Westburne Electric, retiring in 1992.

During his retirement years Michael loved to read and was an avid gardener. For many years he was an active member and treasurer of the Painswick Horticultural Society. Michael was a unique character who loved people and was loved by all who met him. He was also an exciting and humorous storyteller. He spent many hours entertaining friends and family! He will always be remembered for so many things including his great "Joy of Life". Michael, predeceased by his parents is survived by his loving and caring wife Laura, his only son Jeffery, stepchildren Joanne (Smith), Martin & Christina (Della Valle), and two grandchildren Victoria and Ashley.

A celebration of Michael's life will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Painswick Horticultural Society. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.innisfilfuneralhome.

So sorry for your loss. We will surely miss Michael fixing my gardens , when you guys visited in the summer. He certainly had a "green thumb".
