da COSTA, JOEN - On the evening of Friday December 7th 2018,  Mum slipped away comfortably in the arms of her youngest son Christopher. Responding to Chris’ retelling, John and Mike both confirmed that her’s was what physicians call “a good death”. Just that morning at breakfast our Mum told Chris that she had decided to make a major improvement in her dietary management. She had decided to remove wheat from her diet altogether! Joen Kerr da Costa’s vibrant life will be celebrated at INNISFIL FUNERAL HOME 7910 Yonge Street, Stroud L9S 1L5 on Saturday, December 15th 2018, with visitation from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. I met your mom when she was 98 years young. The many conversations and time spent together over the last few years has been totally inspiring to me. She warmed my heart and family meant everything to her. She always wanted to hear stories of joy. I will miss her dearly.

To the Da Costa family, relatives and friends, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest condoleances to all of you, despite being 600 miles away. I have never had a chance to meet with Mrs DaCosta, but I know for a fact what it means to lose a mother. In these difficult times, words can heal but remember that there is no better thing to do than stay united, strong and to let the emotions flow. A heartfelt hug means more in those times than a thousand word. on behalf of everyone here at GMR Freight Brokers, please accept our more sincere condoleances.

I first met Joan when Rick and Tania came over for dinner at my parent's home in Fonthill back in 2011 when my family first moved to Canada. I remember my first impression was "WOW, she's got such great fashion!" After that night we had lots of dinner parties where Joan attended and it always stood out to me her bright, loving and kind personality! I am lucky to have gotten to know her! My sincerest condolences to the family to have lost such a wonderful person, Much love, Michele Wassink

Dear Rick and family, I could never forget your mom. We got along so well and what was truly remarkable Is the fact that we got along so well. Her joy her sense of humour helps me to come out of my shell, and joke with her equally. Thank you for letting me know and I would consider it a privilege to celebrate the mass for her come the spring. May God bless her entire family in this difficult time and may you find peace in knowing that she is now with her creator and indeed Truly at rest.

Many of Joen's friends in Finland remember her with fondness. Some of them were able to meet Joen in person, some only heard stories of her vivid life and saw her pictures. Everyone was most impressed by Joen's positive outlook on life and her determination to live life to its fullest, - including me observing that spirit firsthand. Family and friends in Finland send their warmest condolences to all members of the Dacosta family!

I met your Mum approximately a year ago. Her sense of humour, kind and loving nature made such an impression on me. Listening to her life's adventures and hearing about her travels was something I always looked forward to. Always a kind word for everyone and an amazing lady. I cherish the time I spent with her and it was an honour to know her. She will be missed greatly. My heartfelt and sincere condolences to the DeCosta family.

In line with Michele in Australia, we are with you in thought. Joen always did stick in my mind as a wonderful, classy lass, full of good spirit, always as smile and a listening ear. Now another angel is gone. With pride I was allowed to refer to her as "Nana". She giggled when I asked if that was OK. " I love it when you would do that" . Nana made it to 102 and a wee bit and I remember our last phone conversation just two weeks ago. As usual enquiring about our lives and our children Robert and Michele, genuinely interested and thoughtful. Nana, rest in peace after a colorful and exiting life, you lived it well. You will be in the hearts and minds of your children, family, grandchildren and all your friends.
