von Graffen, Adolf

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Adolf von Graffen, on Thursday November 23, 2017, in his 89th year, at the Royal Victoria Hospital with his family by his side. Beloved husband of Anita (Krische) for 54 years. Born in Schwerin, Germany on December 16, 1928 to the late Karl and Ilse von Graffen. Much loved Pappi to Cornelia von Graffen-Adair (Patrick), Michael von Graffen and Monika von Graffen-Cornthwaite (Duncan). Proud Pappi to his four cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Nadia, Mikayla and Tahlia. Older brother to Marlen Goldbeck-Loewe, Dorothee Merkel and Jutta Findlay. Predeceased by his 3 brothers-in-law, Wulf Goldbeck-Loewe, Harald Merkel and Jonathan Findlay. Adolf, a man of steadfast values and quiet determination, immigrated to Canada in 1966 and settled with his wife, Anita, on a farm in Innisfil, Ontario, the place he and his family called home for over 50 years. Whether hosting unique parties and weddings, magic shows or quiet family gatherings, his craftsmanship, attention to detail, love and singular taste in decor, Adolf took great pride in the farm that was admired by many. Tennis with the “Mixed Nuts” group was one of his many passions. Adolf will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. A time to remember will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend a celebration of Adolf’s life on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Churchill United Church, 6306 Yonge Street, Innisfil, Ontario at 2 p.m.

We are so sorry to hear about your loss and sending our sincere condolences to your entire family. It is always to soon but Adolf had a good and full life with a great family by his side. I think back with fond memories how your home was my first stepping stone in Canada. With his help I got my first apartment and my first car. A lot of weekends were spend at your farm and it was my second home for a couple of years until we became neighbours.

I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and father. Nothing in your lives can replace his devotion to you and his dedication to family life on the farm. Certainly his commitment to excellence and passion for detail will be carried on in the work of his son, Michael. May you find comfort and peace in the love of friends and family at this difficult time.
